The Framingham energy efficiency firm Ameresco has secured an Army contract valued at $16.7 million to make improvements to the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Hamilton.
The improvements at the Brooklyn, N.Y. facility will include 1.2 megawatts of solar systems, water conservation and energy efficiency upgrades, the company announced Friday.
The contract covers 32 buildings spanning 580,000 square feet. Ameresco will implement nine energy conservation measures, including the installation of new high-efficiency natural gas condensing boilers, LED lighting upgrades, a 350-kilowatt rooftop solar system, and three solar carports exceeding a combined 800 kilowatts.
Combined, the energy conservation measures are designed to reduce the energy consumption at Fort Hamilton by 37 percent, according to the company.
Amersco is headquartered in Framingham and has more than 1,000 employees.
