Framingham technology publisher pulls in huge web numbers

The Framingham technology publishing company IDG properties, which handles publications such as Computerworld, had nearly 200 million unique visitors to its website in February, placing it in first place in online readership for technology publishers.

The 194.9 million visitors the site saw outpaced other technology publications such as CNet, which had 132.59 million visitors in the same time period, according to a comScore Rankings. The ranking is extremely important for the now 100-percent U.S. digital publication that achieves 90 percent of its ad revenue from digital, IDG CEO Michael Friedenberg said in a statement.

The company attributed the growth to a growing network of technology content properties that have increased web traffic by 122 percent over the last six months.

IDG’s publishing network includes hundreds of websites, including brands such as CIO, Macworld and PCWorld and hundreds of partner sites through IDG TechNetwork and the Tech Media Exchange. IDG.tv, the company’s centralized hub for video content, hosts exclusive, original series and videos, and receives 150 million video views per month.
