Framingham State to launch biotech MBA program

Framingham State University will start a new master in business administration degree program next fall, including a concentration on biotechnology to take advantage of the proximity to a large and growing biotech cluster in Greater Boston.
The MBA biotechnology operations program is designed to prepare students for leadership and management roles in the industry, the university said.
A major unmet need in biotechnology today is having qualified people to direct financing and operations, with funding, acquisitions and business development main drivers of the industry's growth, said Steve Moysey, the director of Framingham's MBA programs.
Students in the new concentration will be required to complete 12 courses, with eight in core business subjects and four in biotechnology operations.
Sunny Tam, who coordinates Framingham State's professional science master’s degree program in biotechnology, says the new MBA concentration should attract mid-level biotechnology employees seeking to advance in their careers and students looking to break into the industry.
