Framingham State College tuition and fees for full-time undergraduate students will rise 6.5 percent, to $6,540, for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The college said it expects to remain the most affordable state college in Massachusetts. Although other state colleges have not yet announced their tuition and fees for the year, Framingham said it anticipates that its total charges will be about $1,000 lower than average.
The college will also increase its funds dedicated to financial aid by $150,000. Nearly 70 percent of FSC undergraduates get financial aid.
The budget plan, approved by the board of trustees, is based on the assumption that the college will get funding from the Federal Stimulus Bill, but not enough to replace cuts included in Gov. Deval Patrick's proposed budget. Since last fall, the college has reduced its non-teaching positions by 8 percent, but it has not cut its faculty positions.
