Students at Framingham State University will now see delivery robots scurrying around campus as part of the school’s partnership with French food service company Sodexo.
Kiwibot, a Berkeley, California-based robotics startup will provide the robots, which can be summoned using a Sodexo app, according to a Wednesday press release by the university.
Electric robots will offer students the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint and provide a contactless option for students isolating or quarantining on campus.
Kiwibots has introduced the service at 26 campuses across the U.S., according to its website.
The fleet of 15 robots at Framingham State will operate from 4 p.m. to midnight.
“The addition of Kiwibot technology is the latest advance and I know many of our students will be excited to have these mini delivery systems coming right to them, on our campus,” FSU President Nancy Niemi said in the press release.
Kiwibot was founded in Colombia in 2017 by Felipe Chávez Cortés.
