Framingham State president signs diversity, inclusion pledge

The president of Framingham State University has signed on to a pledge from CEOs and presidents across the country to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Javier Cevallos becomes the third Massachusetts college president to sign onto the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion. The presidents of Babson College and Bentley University also have, along with the heads of Staples, Boston Scientific and 15 other entities.
Nationally, more than 450 heads of companies and colleges have signed the pledge, which says they will cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed.
“Framingham State University has for many years recognized that the different perspectives students and employees from diverse backgrounds bring to our community enhance the quality of the education we provide,” Cevallos said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion by signing this pledge.”
Cevallos, who was born in Ecuador and grew up in Puerto Rico, signed on last December to the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, which called on Congress to pass legislation protecting students who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.
