Framingham State has passed $10 million in fundraising in its latest campaign, more than the university has ever raised in a single campaign in its history.
The campaign, titled “Investing in Student Success,” was publicly announced in 2014 and is aimed at producing scholarships and other funds to assist students with the cost of schooling.
So far the campaign has covered:
-A scholarship fund providing financial assistance to first-generation college students.
-A book voucher fund to defray the cost of purchasing required academic books.
-New scholarship funds dedicated to students in particular departments, including Food and Nutrition, Education, Studio Art/Art Education, Fashion Design and Retailing.
These funds have allowed the school to assist students who otherwise would have likely dropped out, according to Eric Gustafson, the director of development and alumni relations.
“It’s no exaggeration to suggest that even modest support can have a life-changing impact on a student,” Gustafson said in a statement.
The university is about 84 percent of the way to reaching its goal. The campaign is scheduled to wrap up by June 30, 2018.
