Framingham State pairs with Assumption, Newbury colleges

Framingham State University's May Hall. The university has a new program in which some students can begin earning their master's degree while still undergraduates.
Framingham State University has partnered with Assumption College in Worcester and Newbury College in Brookline to give students in biotechnology and English an option to earn a graduate degree just one year after getting their bachelor's degree.
The new partnership, called 4+1 and announced May 8, allows students who meet certain qualifications to apply to a graduate program at Assumption or Newbury during their junior year and begin taking graduate-level courses during their senior year. Those courses count toward a bachelor's and a master's degree, allowing those students to earn both degrees in just five years.
As part of the partnership, students at Newbury College will receive priority admission into several of Framingham State's 23 graduate degree programs.
Among the requirements for students, they must submit three letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose, and have at least a 3.0 grade point average for biotechnology and a 2.7 grade point average for the English program.
