Framingham State University has named Christimara Garcia as director of its Entrepreneur Innovation Center.

“We are thrilled to have Christy take over as Director of the FSU Innovation Center,” Patricia Thomas, dean of the College of Business, said in a Thursday press release. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and research on business innovation to share with our entrepreneurs and the many business interns who work alongside them.”

Garcia is a business executive with more than 20 years of experience. Most recently she was the founder and executive director of Brazilian think tank, Catalyze Innovations Initiative, where she launched several programs, including a BIPOC (Black, indigenous, people of color) entrepreneurship program, training and mentoring more than 100 entrepreneurs in applying disruptive innovation to achieve business prosperity, social-economic growth, and inclusion, according to the press release.

Garcia founded ABGI Brasil, a consulting firm in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Between 2007 and 2018, she supported the growth and expansion of more than 200 companies in Brazil and around the world, providing services such as innovation and projects fundraising, legal structuring, business set-up, project management, and innovation labs structuring, according to Framingham State.

Framingham State’s Entrepreneur Innovation Center was launched in 2013 to provide an exchange of knowledge, opportunities, and ideas between FSU students, staff, and local entrepreneurs.
