Framingham State Appoints Interim President

Robert A. Martin has been appointed interim president of Framingham State University by its Board of Trustees ahead of FSU's transition to a new president.

Martin was formerly vice president for academic affairs at FSU, and will assume the post mid-August as a nationwide search for a permanent president is conducted, according to a statement. Current President Timothy J. Flanagan is stepping down to accept the presidency at Illinois State University.

Martin was vice president for academic affairs at FSU from 2004 until his retirement in 2010. He is an adjunct faculty member in the department of psychology and philosophy.

"We have full confidence that he will do an excellent job leading the institution while a nationwide search is conducted for the next permanent president," said Joe Burchill, chairman of the Board of Trustees.
