A five-story office building that sits next to the Framingham-Southborough line and formerly occupied by Genzyme Corp. was sold last week to a New Jersey firm that’s planning a major expansion and renovation, according to a broker involved in the deal.
The building, called MetroWest Place, and located at 15 Pleasant St. Connector in Framingham, was sold for $5.5 million to Normandy Real Estate Partners, according to the broker, Richards Barry Joyce & Partners (RBJ). The seller was Natick-based Crosspoint Associates, which was represented by RBJ.
The property is located just outside 9/90 Corporate Center and The Framingham Technology Park, close to Route 9 and the Exit 12 interchange of the Massachusetts Turnpike. The glass-top building consists of 95,000 square feet of Class A office space and it had been fully occupied by Genzyme until 2012.
RBJ said Normandy planning a major renovation, expansion and repositioning of the building, starting with a permitting process.
Normandy owns the Marlborough Technology Park as well as a separate 75,000-square-foot office building in Marlborough and Flanders Research Park in Westborough, which contains a Porter And Chester Institute.
