Framingham health analyst acquires Vermont competitor

Definitive Healthcare, a Framingham health data analysis firm, said Wednesday it has acquired a similar firm in Vermont.
Definitive Healthcare said its purchase of HIMSS Analytics builds on the company's growth strategy. The company said taking over HIMSS bolsters Definitive Healthcare's leading market intelligence platform, which helps thousands of customers engage with healthcare providers.
Blain Newton, the executive vice president of HIMSS Analytics, said his company identified Definitive Healthcare as an ideal buyer early in the process. Financial terms of the acquisition weren't disclosed.
Definitive Healthcare serves pharmaceutical firms, medical device companies, care providers and others. The company said it will immediately begin integrating data sets and platform functionality from its acquisition.
