Framingham, Gardner colleges get $2M state funding

Framingham State University and Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner have received a share of $39 million in life science funding from the state announced Thursday.
Mount Wachusett took in more than $1.6 million to create a new Medical Laboratory Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science facility, as well as renovate and equip classroom space.
Framingham State received $454,000 to complete and equip 16 new biology and chemistry labs and to equip classroom space for other STEM academic programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math.
Four area high schools also received a share of $4 million worth of funding spread across high schools for capital funding and professional development grants.
Those high schools included: South High Community School, Worcester, $91,609; Northbridge High School, Whitinsville, $110,000; Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Fitchburg, $99,697; Goodrich Academy, Fitchburg, $105,345.
The Baker Administration said it would also hold regional events in the coming weeks to formally announce projects in various parts of the state.
