Framingham-based Clinical Enterprise, Inc., a Eurofins Scientific company, announced on Thursday it has begun COVID-19 testing in Connecticut under a previously announced government contract to expand national testing for the coronavirus.
The first tests at the Northeast Hub for Operation Expanded Testing in Westport, Conn. took place in June in conjunction with Affinity Empowering, according to a release. OET is a federal program to increase COVID-19 testing in congregate settings such as K-12 schools and summer school programs, correctional facilities, homeless shelters and some nonprofit community centers.
Through OET, Eurofins and Affinity provide fully funded COVID-19 testing programs available across 26 Northeastern and Southern U.S. states and additional territories. Those interested in the no-cost program can learn more online.
The agreement is one of three government agreements designed to expand COVID-19 testing, for a total cost of $650 million, according to a previous release from the U.S. Department of Defence. A breakout of the dollar figure for the agreement with Clinical Enterprise was not provided.
