Framingham’s Active Broadband Networks has been acquired for its technology by Louisiana-based CenturyLink that will absorb 13 of the company’s employees as part of the company’s testing team.
The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, helps accelerate CenturyLink's efforts to automate its network, move network functions into the cloud and deliver software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) services to its customers, according to a release from CenturyLink. Moving services to the cloud is key to CenturyLink’s service of customer’s moving forward, according to the company.
The 13 employees that will be retained will report to a vice president located in Monroe, La. CenturyLink does not have any other locations in Massachusetts or service customers in the area.
