The Winter Street Bridge in Framingham will close at 7 a.m. Tuesday, as part of a bridge replacement project, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced this week.
After MassDOT closes the bridge, which carries traffic over the railroad in Framingham, a contractor will begin demolition work. It will be replaced with a new four-lane, single-span bridge, which is scheduled to be up and running by late 2017.
In the meantime, drivers will be directed to detour routes including Fountain and Union streets in Ashland and Waverly and Fountain streets in Framingham. Pedestrian traffic over the railroad won’t change, MassDOT said.
