YOU Inc. has tapped longtime local leader David P. Forsberg to lead the human services agency while it searches for a new CEO.
The appointment was announced Tuesday in a statement from YOU Inc. Board of Directors member Larry Morrison.
Forsberg succeeds Beth Folcarelli, who led the multi-program nonprofit for three years, succeeding founder Maurice J. Boisvert. Folcarelli “reframed YOU, Inc. for a wider reach and more diversified services,” the statement said, and extended the organization’s “44-year legacy as a community pacesetter in behavioral health, family support, residential care, education and out-of-home care.”
As interim CEO, Forsberg will head a staff of more than 600 human service, health care and administrative professionals at nearly two dozen Central Massachusetts locations. YOU Inc., whose name is short for Youth Opportunities Upheld, has a $35.1 million budget.
Forsberg, most recently dean of the business school at Anna Maria College in Paxton, has previously served as interim CEO of Lutheran Social Services of New England Inc. (now Ascentria Care Alliance) and was secretary of Health and Human Services under former Gov. William Weld. An ex-Worcester city councilor, he has also been president and CEO of the Worcester Business Development Corporation; New England administrator of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and chief development officer of the Massachusetts Port Authority and for the City of Worcester.
He has received numerous recognitions, including the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health Public Service Award.
YOU Inc. will conduct a nationwide search for a permanent chief executive officer over the course of the next year, Tuesday’s statement said.
