The former site of Zorba’s Taverna in Worcester has been sold to another restaurant operator, who plans on opening a Chinese buffet spot at the site.
The property, located at 97 Stafford St., has been sold for $2.2 million to an entity associated with Families Restaurants Inc, the owners of restaurants in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York, according to NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs, the Worcester-based real estate firm who was involved in the transaction. The deal was finalized on Thursday.
The new owners of the property intend to open a Chinese restaurant at the location.
“We would like to thank the community that supported us over the years. We wish the new owners many years of success,” Nusa Dimopoulos, the owner of Zorba’s, said in the press release.
The restaurant closed its doors permanently in February.
The owners of Zorba purchased 97 Stafford St. for $562,500 in June 2010, according to City of Worcester property records. The property was given a tax assessment value of $779,300 for 2024.
Lexi Brissette and Jim Keogh of NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs represented Zorba’s in the transaction, while Jarvid Cortes of Keller Williams Realty in Beverly represented the buyers.
