An 80,000-square-foot building on Route 9 in Shrewsbury that formerly housed the medical technology company Valeritas has sold for about $6.3 million.
Valeritas, a New Jersey firm that had executive, manufacturing, research and development operations in Shrewsbury, filed for bankruptcy in February. It was then bought for $23 million by the Danish firm Zealand Pharma in a deal announced in April.
Zealand now has a presence in Marlborough and Boston, as well as New York City and Copenhagen.
The property at 800 Boston Turnpike was bought by a limited liability corporation registered to Matt McGovern at the Newton automotive dealership of McGovern Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. McGovern didn't immediately return a message seeking comment. It was sold by entities registered to the address of VinCo Properties, a Boston real estate company.
The sale closed July 16.
The six-acre site was last assessed by the Town of Shrewsbury at more than $5.6 million. VinCo Properties bought the site in 2005 for $3.9 million.
