The former location of Scooby Doo’s Bar in Clinton at 675 Main St. was sold for $850,000 to a corporation with plans to demolish the building.
The property was sold on Wednesday to 675 Main Street LLC of Clinton, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds. That corporation is registered to Niravkumar Patel of Clinton, according to filings with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Philip Duffy, director of Clinton’s Community and Economic Development Office, told WBJ an applicant appeared before the town’s planning board to detail its intentions to demolish the existing building, modify the site grading, and construct a single-story commercial building with a drive-thru lane, though no tenant has been named.
Although Duffy didn’t offer the name of the applicant, Jamsan Hotel Management LLC of Lexington appeared before the planning board on Sept. 13 regarding the property, according to the agenda. The corporation did not confirm if it is affiliated with the buyer of Scooby Doo’s.
Jamsan Hotel Management is registered to president Dilip Patel of Waltham, according to filings with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. The company manages hotel, retail, and medical properties throughout New England, including Aloft Framingham and Courtyard By Marriott in Westborough. Its retail locations include coffee shops, convenience stores, gas stations, commercial buildings, and cafes, according to its website.
Before Wednesday’s sale, the former location of Scooby Doo’s Bar was purchased by Rolo Realty LLC of Fitchburg in 2015 from Burger King Corp., for $375,000. The Town of Clinton assesses the property for $363,600.
