Former Redevelopment Authority Building Hits Market At $1.1M

The Joseph Davis House, a historic mansion at 41 Elm St. near the Becker College campus in Worcester, is up for sale for $1.1 million.

The house is currently a multi-tenant, Class A office building. In the past, it has been home to the Worcester Redevelopment Authority and the Worcester Natural History Society.

Built in 1884, the mansion was the home of William Rice, former president of the Washburn & Moen Manufacturing Co. beginning in 1890. The building was given to the Worcester Natural History Society in 1953. It is currently owned by Francis A. Ford, an attorney with Worcester law firm Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple and a member of the Worcester Business Development Corp. board of directors.

The 7,756-square-foot building sits on a 27,837-square-foot lot and includes private offices, multiple conference rooms, shower facilities, storage space and 33 on-site parking spaces, according to Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates Inc., the Worcester-based commercial real estate broker handling its sale.
