A former Obama Administration drug policy expert will speak at the the WBJ Addiction in the Workplace event next week at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester.
Michael Botticelli, executive director of the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center and the keynote speaker for the June 12 morning event, will speak about opioid abuse, the legalization of marijuana and addiction in the workplace.
Prior to his current role, Botticelli served as deputy director, acting director and then director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy under former President Barack Obama.
Before taking the job in Washington, D.C., Botticelli worked as the director of the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where he expanded prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery services for the state.
Botticelli is 28 years sober and is in long-term recovery from substance abuse.
