The former site of both Helfand's Deli and the Sahara Restaurant at 143 Highland St. in Worcester has been sold for $1.2 million.
The property was sold in a deal finalized on Wednesday to CG Partners Realty One LLC, an entity based in Boston managed by Dennis Clair of Boston and Angelo Giankais of Wellesley.
Both Clair and Giankais have experience in real estate and property management, according to their LinkedIn profiles. CG Partners owns multiple properties in the area, including 107 Highland St., the location of Thai Time restaurant.
Other parcels held by the firm include several triple decker residences in the neighborhoods surrounding the campus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
James Kalogeropoulos, the broker owner of RE/MAX Partners in Worcester, facilitated the sale. He told WBJ by text message the new owners of the property are currently looking for a tenant.
Helfand’s Deli closed in March after opening in the fall of 2022, according to Worcester Patch. Before Helfand’s, 143 Highland St. was the location of the Sahara Restaurant from the late 1990s until December 2021.
The property was sold by Helfands Real Estate, a Worcester entity made up of Carl Goldstein and David Cohen, two of the partners involved in the opening of the deli. They purchased the site for $810,000 in December 2022, according to City of Worcester property records.
First constructed in 1945, the 3,453-square-foot building at 143 Highland St. was given a tax assessment valuation of $495,700 in 2024.
