The former CEO of Hanover Insurance Group in Worcester and his wife, the former interim president of the EcoTarium in Worcester, said they will match donations in a drive to help the science and nature museum recover some of the anticipated $1.6 million in losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Fred and Patty Eppinger have pledged to match $20,000 in donations to the institution's COVID-19 Emergency and Recovery Fund, the museum said in a statement on Monday.
While the museum's board works to match the $20,000 gift, the EcoTarium is also asking members of the public to help fund a second $20,000 match initiative.
"We cannot thank those of you who have already given enough for your support - it means the world to our staff, volunteers, board, and of course our animals," said EcoTarium President and CEO Lucy Hale, in a statement.
Donations may be made online, on the EcoTarium's website.
