Former Escape Games owner plans arcade bar Pixels and Pints

The former owner of Escape Games Worcester is planning to open an arcade bar inside the former Mass Barbell gym location on Grafton Street in Worcester.
Jason Eastty, the owner of record for Arcade Bar LLC, which is doing business as Pixels and Pints, hopes to win three approvals from the License Commission on Thursday for alcohol, food sales and entertainment.
According to Eastty, the space was originally slated to become axe-throwing bar Axe & Ale House but ran into a small speed bump when city officials requested he open the business without a liquor license to begin.
Without that added value, the business would be tough to keep open, he said.
Instead, the 4,000-square-foot space will offer only retro arcade games up to the mid-1990s and hopefully a full bar including craft cocktails and craft beer.
Eastty is seeking a common victualer license in order to serve pizza at the business.
He described the business as catering to adults who grew up with the arcade games he’ll feature, using Pacman as an example.
“We’re going with the classics,” he said.
Eastty had bigger plans for Smash the Room, which allowed customers to literally smash things in a safe, controlled environment in a Grove Street building. That business has closed, but Eastty said he could bring that business back and include it in the plans for Pixels and Pints.
Retro video games, however, remain his focus.
“It’s the first [arcade bar] in the city, and I think people are going to love it,” he said.
