The former business manager at Clinton’s Museum of Russian Icons has pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from her former employer and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Jennifer Delorey McNamara, 36, of Clinton, pleaded guilty last Friday to one count of wire fraud in federal court. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 2.
According to the U.S. Department of JUstice, McNamara began working at the museum part time in 2010, later scoring a promotion to full-time business manager in 2012.
It was then that she started embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the museum by redirecting cash destined to the museum’s bank account to her personal account via unauthorized payments.
McNamara was formerly charged last Friday, and she pleaded guilty immediately, waiving her right to a trial, court records show.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, the museum referred the matter to federal investigators once the museum became aware of the scope of McNamara’s theft.
