The Worcester Planning Board on Wednesday approved a site plan for the redevelopment of the former Boys Club at 16 Salisbury St., which is set to become 80 units of senior housing.
The former Boys Club will be adapted into 16 apartments, while the other 64 units will be part of a new development constructed along Prescott Street, per the site plan.
WinnDevelopment of the Boston-based WinnCompanies are overseeing the project. WinnCompanies was also responsible for the Voke Lofts a block away from the Boys Club and the Canal Lofts on Water Street.
Wednesday’s site design had 15 fewer units than the original plan, which was proposed in April.
The apartments will be mainly affordable, with 85% aimed at residents with incomes between 30% and 60% of the median area income. The other 12 units will be market-rate.
The former Boys Club has been vacant for about 15 years and was built in the late 1800s. WinnCompanies bought it from the city in 2019 for $300,000.
