Foreclosures Ramp Up
Just when there was a lull in the statewide foreclosure numbers, activity picked up again in June, with the number of completed foreclosures rising more than 40 percent from the previous month, according to The Warren Group.
The Boston-based real estate tracking firm said there were 931 completed foreclosures in June, which is the highest level since 2010. That's up from 569 foreclosures in May.
On the bright side, the figures are down compared to last year, when there were 1,315 foreclosures completed in June.
Year to date, there have been half as many foreclosures this year compared to last year.
There were another 990 foreclosure petitions filed. Petitions are the first step in the foreclosure process. That number is up from 699 in May, but down from 2,220 in June 2010.
