In Q3 of ’06, 4,891 foreclosures were recorded in the Bay State, a 66 percent jump over Q3 of 2005. Foreclosures in Q3 of ’06 are also 140 percent higher than 2004 levels.
ForeclosuresMass.com, a provider of online foreclosure data for Massachusetts, also noted that the current rate of foreclosure has surpassed last year’s numbers by 1,452 at this time in ’05. On a 12-month basis from Oct. 1, 2005 to Sept. 30, 2006, foreclosures increased statewide 48.38 percent to 16,016 as compared to Oct. 1, 2004 to Sept. 30, 2005, when 10,794 foreclosures were recorded.
Counties with the largest foreclosure increases were Barnstable, Bristol and Suffolk.
