Foreclosures petitions in Worcester County were down by more than 38 percent last month compared to July 2016.
According to Boston real estate data firm The Warren Group, foreclosure petitions in Worcester County declined by 38.41 percent from last July. For the year, foreclosure petitions were down by 17.02 percent.
A total of 101 petitions were filed last month, compared to 164 in July 2016. For the year, petitions in Worcester County fell from 1,310 to 1,087 over the same time span. Petitions mark the start of the foreclosure process.
Petitions fell similarly throughout the state, including in Middlesex County, where petitions fell by 34.51 percent when last month was compared with July 2016.
For the year, Middlesex County foreclosure petitions decreased by 15.18 percent from 1,034 to 877.
Statewide, a total of 683 petitions were filed in July, compared to 1,032 in July 2016.
Year to date, the state has seen 6,466 total petitions filed, down 15.5 percent from the 7,648 filed over the first seven months of 2016, according to The Warren Group.
