Food Hub gets $500K, new truck

The Worcester Regional Food Hub has a new refrigerated box truck to help it distribute locally grown food to the Worcester Public Schools.

The food hub, which is a joint venture of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Environmental Council of Central Massachusetts, also received $500,075 from the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, according to a Friday press release. Support from the Health Foundation makes the Food Hub possible, according to the release.

On May 8, the truck delivered bushels of fresh apples from Carlson Farms in Harvard and from Bolton Orchards to the Worcester Public Schools.
