Fonfara calls for unification

Dissatisfied with the mayor’s task force on property taxes, business owners met with state Sen. John Fonfara to brainstorm solutions and, for many small businesses, rehash familiar complaints. Fonfara urged Hartford’s small business owners to join as a larger, more unified organization that would carry more clout both in the  General Assembly and city hall. Business representatives responded with some agreement, but many argued that such groups are powerless in the face of a mismanaged city budget, stonewalling from the mayor and city council, and an uninterested MetroHartford Alliance.
