The former Westminster headquarters of Tyco SimplexGrinnell, a fire security company merged in 2016 with an Irish parent, has been sold to a Needham real estate firm for almost $2.5 million, according to the Worcester Northern District Registry of Deeds.
The company vacated the property on April 15 and moved its employees to Devens, as well as other locations in Massachusetts, a spokesperson for parent company Johnson Controls said on Friday.
Since the merger, Tyco is a subsidiary of the Irish HVAC company Johnson Controls and is now under the brand of Johnson Controls Fire Protection. Various companies, all registered to the same Tyco SimplexGrinnell office in Florida, have owned the property since at least 1998, according to the registry.
Waterstone Properties, which purchased the 162,020-square-foot warehouse, is a Needham-based realtor that mainly specializes in retail plazas. The deal closed July 13.
Located at 50 Technology Drive off Route 2, the property is valued at $7.2 million by the Town of Westminster.
