YOU Inc., a Worcester behavioral health and education agency, has sold an educational campus straddling the Templeton and Winchendon line for $3.4 million.
The site, known as the Cottage Hill Academy, was bought by a limited liability corporation registered to the address of Banyan Treatment Centers, a Florida addiction services firm with 11 locations nationally.
Banyan plans to open a mental health and substance abuse disorder treatment facility there in the first quarter of next year, spokeswoman Allison Seriani Rush said. A new location at Cottage Hill Academy gives Banyan its second Massachusetts location in addition to one in Wilmington.
Banyan is in the early stages of planning for the facility, but plans to have around 125 employees, Seriani Rush said.
The sale closed Aug. 12. The 17-acre property was put on the market in mid-2019 at an undisclosed price.
YOU Inc. said last year it would relocate the facility once a sale is completed. The site has included residential, educational and therapeutic services for children and young adults ages 6 to 20. In January, YOU became part of the Worcester nonprofit Seven Hills Foundation.
Winchendon, where most of the site lies, last assessed its portion of the property at $5.7 million and Templeton its portion at $294,800.
The property includes a 31,000-square-foot main administrative and educational building, and six residential buildings of 12 bedrooms each, along with other smaller buildings and outdoor recreational space.
