Boston is on the shortlist of potential U.S. host sites for the 2024 Olympic Games. (The others: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.) A successful Boston bid could bring some events to Central Massachusetts locales. (Perhaps rowing on Lake Quinsigamond?) Hosting the Olympics would boost the region’s profile as well as business, but also cost billions of dollars to produce. In last week’s Flash Poll, voters overwhelmingly said it’s not worth the effort.
