Fitchburg and Worcester have each received $60,000 in state funds to help with small-business grants meant to aid overcoming the coronavirus pandemic.
Fitchburg's funds will go toward Fitchburg State University and the ReImagine North of Main initiative, which will provide marketing support for businesses and hand out to area residents gift cards to local businesses.
In Worcester, Main South Community Development Corp. will assist with giving funds directly to businesses in or near the state's designated Main South transformative development district.
In all, the state agency MassDevelopment gave $60,000 grants to such high-need districts in Chelsea, Chicopee, Fall River, Fitchburg, Lawrence, Springfield, and Worcester, and $30,000 grants to Attleborough, Barnstable and Brockton.
