Fitchburg Sensor Firm Posts Q1 Gain

Fitchburg-based Arrhythmia Research Technology Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Micron Products Inc. reported revenue of $5.6 million and a profit of $103,000 for the first quarter, increases of 19 percent and 26 percent respectively compared to the prior year.

The manufacturer of components found in medical devices and other industries said increased sales volume in the defense and sensor industries drove the sales and income growth.

Sensor volume increased 8 percent during the quarter while revenue from defense related products increased 44 percent.

The company also said it reduced labor costs by automating its sensor manufacturing operation.
