Fitchburg packaging manufacturer acquired by Midwest firm

A Fitchburg company producing high-precision molding for medical and consumer packaging has been acquired by a Michigan-based industrial technology company.

Wachusett Precision Tool of Fitchburg was purchased by SyBridge Technologies of Southfield, Mich., a value-added design and production solutions provider. Wachusett, founded in 2016, specializes in high-precision prototype, pilot, and production molds for medical and consumer packaging customers, according to a May 3 press release from SyBridge.

Tony Nardone, SyBridge’s chief executive officer, said in a press release Wachusett will help SyBridge expand into the life sciences and consumer markets.

It will join SyBridge’s life sciences division and leverage the company’s design, engineering, supply chain, and production capabilities to better serve its northeastern customers, as well as SyBridge’s broader base around the world. Wachusett’s proximity to pharmaceutical, medical devices, and consumer products customers in the Boston area makes it attractive, according to SyBridge.

Wachusett’s current owners, Mike Carignan and Matt Saunders, will stay on as part of the SyBridge team, Bill McDonough, president of the life sciences business unit at SyBridge, said in a statement.

“We are excited to welcome new team members and work together to continue to provide the quality and innovation that underpins our customers’ success,” McDonough said in a press release.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
