The Fitchburg Art Museum’s board of trustees announced the appointment of Nicholas Capasso as the museum’s new director.
Capasso, now deputy director for Curatorial Affairs at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, will begin his new post Dec. 3, according to a statement from the board. He will fill the role now held by Peter Timms, who will retire in December. He has served as the museum’s director since 1973.
“I look forward to working with a collection chock-full of treasures, and to strengthening the museum’s ties to its multiple communities,” Capasso said.
A committee ran a nationwide search for a new director before selecting Capasso, according to the statement.
