The North Central Massachusetts Development Corp., the economic development arm of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, has approved $35,000 in financing for two small businesses in its region.
In the funding round, a $20,000 loan was approved for Josh Merchant, owner of The Break Bike Shop in Fitchburg, and a $15,000 loan was approved for Pawsitive Identity K9 Services in Hubbardston, owned by Thomas and Nina Welch.
The loans were announced Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Financing for Merchant will support shop startup costs, as well as the creation of one full-time and one part-time job.
Financing for the Welches went toward the purchase of a new dog, Charlie, who will work with current K9, Kirby, according to NCMDC. Tom Welch was a K9 officer for 21 years with the Worcester County Sheriff Department.
NCMDC is a microloan lender that can provide loans to small businesses up to $250,000. It is the financing arm of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.
