Two first-time festivals, one for beer and another for wine, will come to Worcester starting later this month.
Mercantile Center will host the Summer Craft Beer Festival on July 20 at the plaza between the center’s office building and parking garage. The event, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., is the first of what the development hopes will become an annual festival. Three Worcester breweries – Wormtown Brewery, Flying Dreams Brewing and 3cross Brewing Company – will be featured, along with food from BirchTree Bread Company, Uncle E’s BBQ, and Minute Man Kettle Corn, among others, and live music from Josh Briggs.
A rain date for the festival is scheduled for July 21, the following day.
In October, planners have scheduled the first Worcester Wine Festival, including a grand tasting event at Union Station. The event will include a VIP kick-off event on Oct. 6, dinners at various Central Massachusetts restaurants on Oct. 7, and the tasting at Union Station on Oct. 8.
The festival organizer, Lock 50 restaurant owner Ed Russo, said he expects 650 attendees for the grand tasting.
The Worcester Wine Festival will also include craft beer and spirits vendors, and art and music organizations. Two local organizations, Discover Central Mass and MassFoodies, are marketing the event, and Julio’s Liquors in Westborough will be the retailer for the event.
