In the week ending Dec. 13, the number of Americans filing claims for unemployment insurance coverage was 554,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
That’s a decrease of 21,000 from the previous week, when first-time claims hit a 26-year high.
The 4-week moving average was 543,750, an increase of 2,750 from the previous week.
