First-Time Jobless Claims Down Last Week

In the week ending Dec. 13, the number of Americans filing claims for unemployment insurance coverage was 554,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
That's a decrease of 21,000 from the previous week, when first-time claims hit a 26-year high.
The 4-week moving average was 543,750, an increase of 2,750 from the previous week.
