Fines, suspensions for unethical contractors

Employing unlicensed people, contaminating water pipes with lead particles and failing to finish work on time is a smattering of why the Department of Consumer Protection has suspended the occupational licenses of three contractors for unethical behavior and refusing to pay penalties. Timothy Kennedy of Rocky Hill and Hartford had his plumbing license suspended and has received a $42,000 penalty, $33,123 of which is outstanding at this time. Each with $2,500 penalties are Raymond Perkins of Southbury, in plumbing and Warren Alexander of Windsor and West Hartford, in fire protection. As of Oct. 1, it will be a criminal offense for professional tradespersons to perform work without an active license.
