The Federal Emergency Management Agency will send another $2.2 million to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester for the cost of testing students, faculty, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The FEMA grant reimburses the college for the cost of contracting to administer 204,492 tests between July 2021 and April 2022 at an on-campus site open to the public. The school purchased and distributed N95 masks and high efficiency particulate air filters, according to a Tuesday press release from FEMA.
FEMA has now given Holy Cross nearly $6 million for the college’s response to the pandemic, as in April it received an earlier $3.4 million from FEMA for testing between January and June 2021.Â
As of Tuesday, FEMA has provided more than $1.3 billion in public assistance grants to Massachusetts to reimburse organizations in the commonwealth for pandemic-related expenses.
