FDA Expands Approval Of Boston Scientific Device

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a Boston Scientific Corp. defibrillator for use by patients with all types of heart failure recognized by the New York Heart Association.

Previously, the device was approved for two of four classes of patients. The two remaining classes are for high-risk patients.

The approval is effective immediately. The company said the approval makes its defibrillators the only devices approved for all four patient classes.
