FCHP, Magellan Form Joint Venture

Worcester-based Fallon Community Health Plan is forming a joint venture with Magellan Health Services in the hope of taking part in a pilot program to offer integrated care to patients with complex needs.

The demonstration program, which runs though the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid's Federal Coordinated Health Care Office, focuses on people between 21 and 64 years old who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits. That group of people typically has complicated health care needs, often including disabilities and mental illnesses.

Magellan, based in Connecticut, provides managed care of behavioral health problems and other medical needs.

The joint venture will be called Fallon Total Care. FCHP will own 51 percent of the group, and Magellan the other 49 percent.
