Family Health Center of Worcester, a federally qualified health center providing comprehensive medical services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, has renamed its program for homeless individuals and families, following a remodeling of the homeless support program.
To be called Worcester Health Care for the Homeless, the health center intends to build out its mission of supporting people experiencing homelessness in Worcester, according to a Tuesday announcement from Family Health Center. The organization will expand upon its plan during an open house on Tuesday. It was previously named Homeless Outreach & Advocacy Program.
Worcester Health Care for the Homeless is located at 199 Chandler St. and provides primary medical services, screenings, behavioral health counseling, substance-use disorder treatment, and other services, according to its website.
The build out of the program and mission comes after a year of recovery for Family Health Center, accompanied by a $3-million state funding grant.
