The financially embattled Family Health Center of Worcester has a new permanent chief financial officer, Yinka Fadahunsi, after four months with the interim replacement for Jose Diaz de Leon.
Prior to Fadahunsi’s appointment, Michael Holton served as interim chief financial officer since October of last year after the departure of Diaz de Leon in September. Fadahunsi officially took over the role on Tuesday, according to a Thursday press release from the center.
Fadahunsi joins Family Health Center after a six-and-a-half year tenure at the Mary Eliza Mahoney Health Center in Newark, New Jersey, where he was most recently CFO. Previously, Fadahunsi worked as a financial consultant for healthcare organizations including Salerno Medical Associates of New Jersey.
“Dr. Fadahunsi is a financial expert who has led the improvement of financial efficiency and stability in the community health center movement and beyond,” said Louis Brady, president and CEO of Family Health Center. “As we continue to work to strengthen our financial position, we are confident that Dr. Fadahunsi’s leadership at a vibrant municipal community health organization makes him the right financial leader to help us meet this moment.”
Diaz de Leon resigned as CFO around the time the Family Health Center was going through significant financial turmoil, which led to layoffs and the closure of three of its locations in September. A group of medical personnel at the center pushed to have Brady removed as president and CEO, but the nonprofit’s board opted to stick with him.
Since he resigned, Diaz de Leon has become CFO of a healthcare multi-specialty physician group in Boston, according to his LinkedIn profile.
