Family businesses relocate to Hudson
The Acton businesses Boatzincs and Mach Machine will relocate to Hudson in a manufacturing building purchased by the owner of Boatzincs for $1.2 million.
The building at 569 Main St. in Hudson was sold for $1.2 million with Greater Boston Commercial Properties (GBCP) of Marlborough representing the sellers. The 18,040 square-foot construction manufacturing building with heavy industrial power had been occupied as a precision machine shop since its initial construction in 1990, according to GBCP.
Boatzincs, an online retailer of marine products, has been in business for 11 years and in its current Acton location for four, Bob Olsen, the owner of the business said. When it came time to relocate the growing company, he said Hudson was a clear choice.
“We like the location and the building is fabulous and the town of Hudson is fabulous so it’s a great move for us,” Olsen said, explaining he had a good experience with town officials. “We felt well received there.”
Boatzincs will move its six employees over to the new location in August. Mach Machine, a machining company with six employees that is owned and operated by Olsen’s son Daniel, will move into the space in July. The machine shop will have a much larger space with fully-integrated HVAC systems, said Olsen, and allow the company to expand.
“There is definitely going to be hiring at Mach Machine,” Olsen said, explaining that Boatzincs will also add employees in the next year but it is not a “major expansion.”
