Fallon sent 24K winter-health care packages

Worcester’s Fallon Health has sent out 24,000 care packages to members covered under the insurance company’s Fallon Medicare Plus and NaviCare plans.

This marks the second year the nonprofit has sent care packages to its members, according to a March 8 release from the organization.

The package was delivered to members in December and contained items like hand sanitizer, tissues, a fleece-lined winter hat, and a puzzle book. The goal was not only to provide health items, but helpful items to help stave off the winter blues, according to the release.

“The majority of our Fallon Medicare Plus membership, and all of our NaviCare membership, is 65 and older, and so we wanted to provide them with some tools to keep them safe,” Dr. David Brumley, vice president of medical affairs and interim chief medical officer for Fallon, said in the announcement.

The package included information about getting vaccinated for the flu, the season for which runs through May.
